Suhar Festival Ride Collapse Leaves One Injured

The Suhar Festival faced a concerning moment when part of a ride collapsed, injuring one individual.

The injured person was promptly taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition, according to the festival's official account.

Organizers swiftly apologized, attributing the incident to a lapse in safety protocols. An investigation is underway, with authorities ensuring appropriate legal actions are taken.

Despite this hiccup, the third edition of the Suhar Festival, which kicked off on November 19, has been a resounding success, drawing over 100,000 visitors in its first ten days. Running until January 3, the festival features a rich array of attractions aimed at boosting tourism in Suhar and its neighboring areas.

Highlights include a new water park, an electronic games zone, a children’s activity hub, and a mesmerizing dancing fountain. The "Lighting Environments" display, showcasing imaginative light installations, has particularly wowed attendees.

Cultural enthusiasts can enjoy 35 performances on the Grand Theatre stage and over 100 events across heritage villages, celebrating Oman’s bedouin, agricultural, and marine traditions.

Sports lovers also have much to explore, from the Suhar Football Festival Championship to dhow rowing races. Live Gulf Cup match screenings, beginning December 21, promise to add a lively energy to the festivities.

The Suhar Festival remains a vibrant celebration of the region’s rich cultural and sporting heritage, offering a memorable experience for all visitors.
