Three Arrested in Connection to Liam Payne's Death

Three people have been charged in connection with the death of former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, who died last month after a fall from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Argentine authorities announced the charges on Thursday, as new details emerged surrounding the incident.

Autopsy Reveals Drugs in System

An autopsy report confirmed that Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time of his death. Authorities have arrested three individuals linked to the case: a suspected drug dealer, a hotel employee who allegedly provided Payne with drugs, and an associate of Payne who is facing a charge of "abandonment of a person followed by death."

Details on Those Charged

Investigators believe the hotel employee supplied Payne with cocaine on at least two occasions during his stay. Additionally, the suspected drug dealer reportedly sold the singer cocaine two days before his death. The third individual, close to Payne, faces charges related to allegedly leaving him alone in distress on the night of his fall.

Witnesses Recall Final Hours

Witnesses reported that Payne appeared aggressive on the day of his death and seemed under the influence. Notably, Payne was seen smashing his laptop in the hotel lobby shortly before his passing. Investigators are now examining the broken laptop, hoping to uncover further insights.

Ongoing Investigation

As the investigation continues, those charged have been prohibited from leaving Argentina. Payne’s body was returned to England over the weekend, where his father, Geoff Payne, was seen at the Buenos Aires hotel, accompanied by security.
