UAE's Passport Climbs Up to This Rank

According to the Henley Passport Index, the UAE passport climbed on the passport global rankings for 2021.

The passport was at number 16 in the first quarter earlier this year, and is now the 15th most powerful passport in the world as of 2021, sharing the ranking with Romania.

The Henley Passport Index is an authoritative ranking of all the passports in the world, through data received from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), giving insighs into 199 passports and 227 travel destinations globally.

In 2011, the UAE was ranked 65th, with a visa-free and visa-on-arrival score of 67, but today it comes in 15th, with a score of 174, sharing the position with Romania, and just ahead of Bulgaria and Croatia, which have each moved up from 18th to 16th.

Each ranking for the passport ranking is based on the number of destinations the passport holder can travel to visa-free.
