UNESCO's Sultan Qaboos Prize Renewed for Six Years

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has renewed the UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation for the next six years.

UNESCO renewed the Sultan Qaboos Prize because of the positive results of the award's external evaluation process.

The news was shared at the UNESCO Executive Council’s 219th session in Paris, France.

The Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation honors individuals or parties that make outstanding contributions and achievements in environmental conservation.

The external evaluation report shows that the Sultan Qaboos Prize complied with the demands of UNESCO and it aligns with UNESCO's priorities for the science sector.

The Sultan Qaboos Prize also conforms to UNESCO's “Man and the Biosphere” Programme and the United Nations 2030 sustainable goals and objectives.

The efforts being made in environmental conservation will continue to be recognized and brought to the forefront with the renewal of the Sultan Qaboos Prize, which is an important achievement for Oman.
