India’s internal laws are stringent regarding visa violations. The Embassy warned that overstaying a visa or traveling on a visa that does not match the actual purpose of the visit can lead to complications. Specifically, individuals who overstay their visa may be prohibited from leaving India until they secure an exit visa. Obtaining this exit visa can take at least three days and may incur fees exceeding OMR 100.

Avoiding Travel Complications

To avoid these issues, the Embassy advises all Omani travelers to ensure they obtain the correct visa type and respect the duration of stay authorized by Indian authorities. The advisory is a reminder of the importance of following visa regulations to prevent any legal or financial difficulties while in India.
