KSA's PIF & WTA Introduce Paid Maternity Leave for Players

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) have introduced paid maternity leave for female tennis players.

The organizations have created the Maternity Fund Program, making it the first program in the history of female tennis to provide paid maternity leave for female players.

Through this program, WTA players will be provided leave for up to 12 months and access to grants for fertility treatments.

The Maternity Fund Program is the first and only program in women's sport to be fully funded and supported by an external partner.

The program will offer various benefits to more than 320 eligible WTA players.

Certain eligibility criteria for the PIF WTA Maternity Fund Program include competing in a certain number of WTA tournaments in a specific period and receiving a special ranking.

This maternity program is part of the WTA's Family Focus Program, which helps players maintain a balance between family life and professional sport.

The program protects the players' ranking after pregnancy and postpartum, allowing them to return to the same level for up to three years after birth or up to two years following another means of parenthood.
