Oman's Airports See 9.2% Rise in Passenger Traffic

By the end of July 2024, Oman’s airports—Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm—saw a significant increase in passenger traffic. The total number of travelers reached 8,478,548, marking a 9.2% rise from the 7,757,629 passengers reported in July 2023. Additionally, the number of flights grew by 5.7%, reaching 63,219 compared to 59,778 the previous year.

Muscat International Airport Leads

Muscat International Airport was the busiest, handling 7,571,148 passengers, an 8.9% increase from last year's 6,949,202. Flight activity at Muscat rose 5.8%, with 56,498 flights, up from 53,386 a year earlier. Omani citizens were the largest group of passengers, with 115,800 departures and 100,800 arrivals. Indian travelers followed, with 82,900 departing and 99,900 arriving, while Pakistani passengers had 19,300 departures and 27,500 arrivals.

Salalah and Sohar Airports See Significant Increases

Salalah Airport saw a 10.3% boost in passenger numbers, reaching 827,486, up from 750,251. The number of flights there increased by 3.6%, totaling 5,975. Sohar Airport experienced an impressive 114.4% increase in passengers, with 45,126 travelers by July 2024. Flights at Sohar grew by 46.6%, with a total of 384 flights.

Duqm Airport Faces Decline

In contrast, Duqm Airport reported a 6.3% decrease in passenger traffic, with 34,788 passengers recorded by the end of July 2024.
